Mission Statement

The purpose of R Plus Dog Training is to teach pet owners how to train their canine companions to be well mannered members of the family. Using a combination of management, behavior modification, humane training methods and benevolent leadership to correct or prevent many of the very normal doggie problems that often lead to backyard banishment or re-homing. A trained dog, who is loved by his owner, is likely to remain in his home forever.

Our values are first and foremost to do no harm. Compulsion methods and equipment such as choke chains, prong collars and shock collars are not necessary in dog training and will never be used. Instead, reward based training methods will be used to teach your dog how to behave appropriately. These are the same positive reinforcement methods that have been used by zoos, marine mammal trainers and animal actor trainers with great success for several decades now.

While our first responsibility is to teach each dog in a humane manner, we never forget the human half of the dog/handler equation. To them, we promise a quality service at a fair price delivered with kindness and respect.

Knowledge is a powerful tool and we will never stop learning. Always looking to broaden our knowledge base, we continue our education by participating in e-mail lists for trainers, studying books and videos and attending conferences and work shops given by the top trainers in our country.
